"Peter Pan" by Spotlight Theatre

Nottingham Arts Theatre

Based on the original story of Peter Pan by JM Barrie, this was an adaptation by Amanda Hall who takes Wendy, John & Micheal on a magical journey to Neverland with the forever young Peter Pan!

I have always loved watching Peter Pan pantomime when I was little but however, this performance was not a pantomime at all it was something different also was created as storytelling with some comedy sketches as well as dancing and singing which seems amazing.

Peter Pan was played by Zach Silcok who was brilliant and I could not keep my eyes off him while he was acting also he is such an incredible actor. I love it where he sat on the floor in front of the audience and got the audience involved by asking them to repeat after him while Tinkerbell was dying "I believe in fairy" and it got repeated around 3 times which was really thoughtful and brought some cheer. I also enjoyed watching Peter and Capitan Hook trying to have a fight together with their play swords and it was amazing to see how they were trained plus not hurting each other. So in the end, Peter won and he saved the day!

Finlay Tomlinson who played as a Smee was so funny I could sometimes stop laughing as he kept bringing some jokes and he is very good with his cheekiest with his comedy sketches. I feel like he has got huge talent by becoming a comedian which is a good thing and I thought he will do amazing for his future career.

I have to say that it that Esme Mcart was amazing playing as Crocodile as she was such a cutie and brought some cheer from the audience and hearing some audience reactions to say this I have never ever seen anything like this before and it was one of the BEST!

I could tell that young actors on the stage were enjoying themselves shining like a star and it made me feel that I enjoyed it myself by sitting in the audience and watching them having a good time.

This would have to be my 2nd time seeing Spotlight Theatre production show and to be fair I really enjoyed seeing something completely different without being a pantomime.

I was slightly disappointed that no more tickets were sold for this show because this is a brilliant and fulfilling show and everyone would have definitely enjoyed it!

The lighting was, excellent as always, but I did notice there were a couple of mic's technical faults that were not turned up to be able to hear from the cast with their speeches. Also, at the end of the closing song, I notice there was a volume kind of going in and going out. I did have to mention it as I do like to hear everything that is being said so I can follow the storyline but I have to give my review and my opinions about the show as I'm also a little deaf too. Peter Hodkinson was in charge of Lighting and Sound tech.

The Musical Director name Sam Griffiths, was fabulous as he knew what he was doing for the show. and what a perfect song choice to close the show with Imagine Dragons' song "Believer" with the casts, however, I did notice that some sounding and it wasn't fantastic as I couldn't really hear the cast singing as the volume kept going and then come back up again especially it not really a good idea for people who comes and see the show and they are deaf like for example I'm also a deaf person. I did also struggle to hear the ending song but then when it got louder I was enjoying it. I would still say the ending closing song was still my highlight with the choreography by Bethany Wear and Sophie Petuccio - Hall but I felt that the cast put a lot more energy into it than any other songs. I thought it was amazing but I totally understand that the sounding wasn't great but I did still feel the energy!

The costumes were also amazing as I loved the costume changes with the dancers and coming out with so many colourful costumes for the casts members.

Overall, this production is a huge success! It brought a lot of laughter, singing, and storytelling to me and the rest of the audience.

Altogether, I would have to rate this production show with a whopping 5 stars as this have to be a more fun show. Also, this is fun for all the family!

A massive congratulations to all of the cast and crew for putting on a fabulous show!!
