"Seussical"
Nottingham Arts Theatre

Wow! What can I say about Friday night's performance of "Seussical"? It's a musical that I haven't seen before and can I just say I was very impressed with the top-quality performance. It was an absolutely amazing show. What a great opening to the show with a song called "Oh The Thinks You Can Think" which made me smile. Having all the cast come on stage was wonderful!

Louis Barnes - Cupit plays The Cat. He is one of the most amazing actors I have ever seen. He kept me smiling throughout the show, He also played The Grinch too.

This show was full of non-stop singing as well as dancing. The vocals from the children and adults were very strong and it sounded like I was watching a West End Musical in London The children and adults made my heart melt especially every time the young kids danced. I heard the audience's reactions "aww that is so cute". There was a good use of Ultra Violet lighting effects which were outstanding.

The show was choreographed by Jessica Royce, who has been choreographing for 16 years which I think is an amazing achievement!

The set design was outstanding and so creative. There were trees on the stage with different numbers on them and wonderful designs of giant lollipops which made me want to go to the stage and grab it and eat them. A massive well done to the amazing creatives team - Oliver Read, Christopher Mundy & Cris Brawn.

Christopher Mundy did an amazing job directing the show. It was his very first show that he had directed in Nottingham which I was so delighted for him.

Jon Orton, who is standing in for Gareth Wynne as Musical Director. I am deaf and the sound levels helped me so much in being able to enjoy the show. The sound quality was perfectly balanced for me. The 11 piece orchestra was outstanding.

The lighting design was also, spectacular, the best that I have seen. I was not expecting to see anything like this from any other production shows. The fact is it was so much higher quality than some of the others I saw before. There were some scenes where they have to use some of the strobe lightings during the show and it got me so excited and thinking about what is going to happen next.

The cast and production team have worked so hard on this show! When act 2 was about to begin, Louis Barnes - Cupit suddenly appeared in the orchestra pit and started conducting the orchestra. He then brought some comedy sketches by pretending to be someone from the Bargain Hunt with his hammer. When he was doing an auction and then he got the audience involved by asking how much would you like to bid?

So then some of the audience was shouting out some random numbers to Louis Barnes-Cupit out in pounds, thousand, million, billion, and trillion which made it so funny and I really enjoyed seeing people having some banter him which I thought went down very well: everyone seems to enjoy it.

Emily - Hope Wilkins was also, amazing because she had a chance to show off her talent in front of the audience and blow people's minds with some of her wonderful vocals and of course, I was not expecting to hear something like that. But her vocals were just so stunning!

There were a couple of songs that they sang from the Seussical, which I didn't really know that well, but had some audience members singing along, The songs were. Oh, The Thinks You Can Think", "Alone In The Universe", "How Lucky You Are", "Havin' A Hunch" and "Green Eggs and Ham."

Overall, this production is a huge success! It brought a lot of laughter, singing, and storytelling to me and the rest of the audience.

Altogether, I would have to rate this production show with a whopping 5 stars as this have to be a more fun show than ever, and also, this is fun for all the family!

A massive congratulations to all of the cast and crew for putting on a fabulous show!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
